Mary Alice Ramsey, a native and resident of Western North Carolina, is a retired art teacher who spends each day in gratitude. A foundation of Christian faith underlies her devotion to her family.
She is a writer, artist, storyteller, performance poet, and a prize-winning cook who is strengthened by treasured friendships. She enjoys reading, photography, and walking, and she is a passionate gardener. Mary Alice’s vegetable and flower gardens offer multiple inviting places to sit, and her residence is known as the place with a tree house in the yard. Her home greenhouse contains eclectic collections of odd rusty things alongside assortments of old wooden boxes, bottles, baskets, bird nests, and thriving plants. She produces art in her home studio and, in the past several years, has participated in a dozen art shows, three of which were solo. She appreciates spending time with family, her community, and at her church, where she enjoys opportunities to serve the homeless, incarcerated, or hospitalized. Her home is often a gathering place for family, friends, and neighbors.
Currently, she spends significant time writing, painting, and constructing mixed-media collage books. She draws and paints in multiple sketch books that also serve as visual journals. In attitude, speech, and actions, her goal is to quietly exemplify her faith. She lives near Asheville with her fabulous husband, Terry.
